TERROIR

There are 70 hectares of vineyards producing wines that are increasingly gaining recognition.

In the heart of the Alto Alentejo, where the undulating landscape stretches to the horizon, lies the unique terroir that gives rise to our wines. Here, the generous soil, marked by sandy loam derived from granite, offers the perfect balance, allowing the vine to develop fully and healthily, consistent with the production of the best grapes.

The Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers, allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, intensifying their aromas and flavors. The cool nights help preserve the natural acidity, guaranteeing wines with a firm structure and remarkable elegance.

Herdade do Perdigão has 70 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly with the region's typical red grape varieties such as Aragonez and Trincadeira, punctuated by the no less important Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Alfrocheiro. The white grape varieties chosen were the also traditional Antão Vaz, Arinto and Verdelho.

Wine begins in the vineyard, where the best viticultural practices are used to obtain the best possible fruit at harvest. In the run-up to the harvest, we follow a strict ripeness control protocol so that we can harvest the grapes at the ideal point of phenolic and alcoholic ripeness.

The ideal terroir, the best winemaking and oenology methodologies and an experienced and dedicated team, led by winemaker David Patrício, make it possible to shape each harvest with passion and respect for the land. Each bottle that leaves our cellar tells the story of this unique terroir: an invitation to discover the essence and soul of Alentejo wines.
