Herdade do Perdig\u00e3o is located in the heart of the Alto Alentejo, 5 km from the center of Monforte, a town with a very rich history from its foundation in 1257 to the present day, having been a very important point of defense against the Spanish invasions. This area is influenced by the microclimate of the Serra de S\u00e3o Mamede, from which it is only 16km away, combining terroir and vineyard, contributing to the production of distinctive and differentiated wines.<\/p>\n

It is known from the presence of several dolmens that the human presence in Monforte dates back to the Neolithic period and it is thought that the cultivation of vines dates back to the time of the Roman presence in the region, around 2,000 years ago. Here, the Romans applied their winemaking techniques, particularly with the use of carvings, and produced wines that reached the nobles of the Roman Empire.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In the 19th century, with the appearance of the phylloxera plague, the cultivation of vines and the production of wine in this area of Monforte were completely abandoned, with the exception of Herdade do Perdig\u00e3o, which believed in and persisted in using the potential of this land.<\/p>\n

The mission continues today, reflected in the intention to combine a place with more than 700 years of history, a unique climate provided by the Serra de S\u00e3o Mamede, ideal soils for growing vines, traditional Portuguese grape varieties and the knowledge of a team motivated to continue producing distinctive and differentiated wines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This winery has been producing wines since the 1990s. It was in the 2000s that it became a benchmark in the region's wine scene, with the construction of a new winery and the planting of new vines. Today, Herdade do Perdig\u00e3o has around 70 hectares of vineyards, in which Portuguese and native grape varieties predominate. In 2016, the winery was acquired by a group of investors from Macau, who have maintained the philosophy of its genesis, its structure and have set their sights on the success of the company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
